The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States, a symbol of the American nation and one of the most famous landmarks of the country. It is located at the National Alley in the heart of Washington and is a snow-white mansion in the classical style. The White House was built from 1792 to 1800 by the American architect James Hoban. The building has 132 rooms, some of which are open for tours, meetings and celebrations. The White House has three elevators and six floors: two basement floors, two for public receptions and two for the president’s family. The White House is surrounded by beautiful gardens: the Rose Garden to the west side and the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden to the east side. The White House is featured on the $20 bill and has been featured in such movies and TV series as White House Down, House of Cards, Political Animals, The West Wing, Olympus Has Fallen, Jackie, and others.
