Semmering is a town and old ski resort of Austria, located in the state of Lower Austria, 88 km southwest of Vienna. It is 984 meters above sea level, between the Raxalpe mountain range to the north and the Wechselgebirge to the south. The resort was founded in 1888 and for a long time was popular with the Viennese aristocracy. There are preserved old villas and beautiful untouched nature, which gives a special atmosphere of the resort. Skiing season here lasts from mid-November to April, and in the summer it is a health and sports center for the whole family. Semmering is a place of extreme cycling and big competitions.
