Hinterstoder is a municipality in the federal state of Upper Austria in the central part of Austria, located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level. The commune has an area of 150 km², and has a population 990 inhabitants. Hinterstrader surrounds the mountain peaks: Great Priel with a height of 2,514 meters, Small Priel (2,134 meters), Spitzmauer (2,446 meters) and Warscheneck (2,389 meters). The first mention of the commune in a document dates in 1240 and was called «Stoder». Since 1910, the municipality of Hinterstoder has developed as a ski resort.
