The Southern Fuegian Railway (Spanish: Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino) or the Train of the End of the World (Spanish: El Tren del Fin del Mundo) is the southernmost operating railway in the world, it passes through the of Tierra del Fuego Province in southern Argentina. The railway was built in 1902-1909 on wooden rails to transport building materials for the construction of a penal colony in Ushuaia. It was known as the ‘Train of the Prisoners’ (Spanish: Tren de los Presos) and connected the penal colony with the forestry and the city of Ushuaia. In 1994, the railway started operating as a tourist attraction and began to connect Ushuaia with the Tierra del Fuego National Park. It is one of the few railways in the world where steam locomotives are still used. The locomotives have carriages restaurants where offers various dishes of Argentine cuisine, tea, coffee and champagne. The Train of the End of the World starts 10 km from Ushuaia International Airport and passes along the Pico Valley between the mountain peaks to El Parque end station in the Tierra del Fuego National Park. At the intermediate station Cascada de la Macarena the train makes a 15-minute stop and passengers can to visit the observation deck or learn the history and life of local population of Tierra del Fuego.
