Ushuaia is a city and seaport located on the shores of Beagle Channel on Tierra del Fuego Island in the south of Argentina, 2360 km south of Buenos Aires. The area of the city is 22.6 km², it is home to about 74 thousand people. Ushuaia is the southernmost city on Earth, but not the southernmost settlement of Earth. The Plaza Malvinas Islands is located on the waterfront in the Ushuaia city center, it is a memorial to the Argentines who died in The Falklands War (Malvinas) between Argentina and the United Kingdom in 1982.
